“Warner Robins is feeling a bit depressed but can play 15 just like Jones County and Perry. Putnam County is the region’s best team in AA and Lamar County in all-A, and the War Eagles and Trojans have top-tier players. Anyone after these teams would be a surprise from now on, although you can never count on Peach County, even after a pretty low game against Northside last week.

4. What did you find most interesting about the first two weeks of football in Central Georgia? “It was funky. Two weeks, two games of at least 110 points. A 16-game losing streak suffered by a broken Class A team on the road against a Class AAA team. ACE gets a new coach, Keith Hatcher, and a notable assistant coach, Mark Farriba, and opens the season with 70 points, then gets some solid revenge against GMC on the road. Washington County loses by 42 at home to a team not in the top five 4A or higher? Macon County starts 0-2 and loses at home?

“The first two Friday nights were quite suspenseful, and those two games mentioned above headline another week with some notable clashes – Dublin and Lamar County, for one – to go along with the usual surprising puzzles. I went a putrid 16-10 last week in predictions, so my confidence level right now for most Central Georgia kids isn’t too high. But it makes things kind of fun when you don’t care who wins.
