Gerard Reilly Dublin and formerly of Tullycomiskey, Castleshane, Monaghan passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family early Thursday morning April 4, 2019.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Michael and Mary Reilly, and survived by his wife and partner Patricia, children Cynthia, Michael, Geraldine, Francis, Charlene and Keith, sons and daughter-in-law. his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. All of Gérard’s family would like to warmly thank those who came to the house, attended the funeral and burial, offered their sympathies and sent Mass cards.
Gérard’s family would also like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the care, attention and respect that the staff at Matter Hospital, the Wellmount Clinic and the palliative nurses at St Francis Hospice have shown to Gerard. Gerard’s Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Canice’s Church in Finglas on Saturday April 6 by Fr. Michael Sheilds and was buried in St Laurence Omeath cemetery by Fr. Olivier Standsfield. Gerard was well known for his warm welcome and he always had a friendly word for anyone he came across.
He was a big fan of sports and loved nothing more than discussing the last game with his many friends. Above all, Gérard was a dedicated family man who spent many happy years working at Unidare in Finglas to support his family. After his retirement, Gerard devoted himself to spending more time with his wife Patricia and caring for his many grandchildren who loved him dearly. Gérard will be missed by all of us but will remain in our hearts forever.
