EA Sports Ireland Under-14 League
Kerry Under 14 finished their home games in the EA Sports Under 14 League of Ireland Shield with an impressive 2-0 win over Carlow / Kilkenny.
The match was hosted by Tralee Dynamos and the goals came from Dawid Grebowiec and Darragh Lynch. The first came after ten minutes when Shay Kelliher seated Grebowiec who passed the visiting goalie.
Kerry had to defend a solid second half against Carlow / Kilkenny and did it very well. In the dying minutes, the victory ended as Lynch cleared away, rounded the keeper and returned home much to the delight of everyone from Kerry in attendance.
Late tear in Kennedy Cup group game
Kerry and Limerick District both won their Kennedy Cup opener, so their Group F clash at UL would go a long way in deciding who would dominate the group.
The home side started off the best, but Kerry’s defense did well with Eanna Murphy and Nathan Cronin completing two very important blocks. And then Kerry goalkeeper Pierce Moynihan made a great one-handed save to keep the teams level.
Kerry grew up in the game and dominated the final ten minutes of halftime with Murphy, Brian O’Shea and Ryan O’Driscoll all hitting the mark.
Kerry continued to press after half-time and five minutes in a good swing saw the ball cross the box and Ronan Carroll did very well to get home. However, within ten minutes the teams were tied when Jayden O’Donovan scored from the penalty spot.
With less than five minutes to go, the game seemed to end in a draw which probably would have been a fair result, but cruelly the home side scored the winner. Aaron Cusack passed two defenders and finished expertly in the lower corner of Kerry’s net.
Kerry will be at home against North Tipperary in his final group game with Limerick Districk in County Limerick.
Gaynor Cup Under-15s get off to a perfect start but Under-13s lose
The Kerry Gaynor Cup Under 15 team got off to a perfect start to their 2021 campaign with a 3-0 away win in West Cork.
Kerry got off to a perfect start when an Izzy McGrath corner was deflected into the West Cork net. The second goal was the best of the day when a Hannah McGearailt corner kick was sent by Emma O’Connor to Ellie Doolan which allowed Suvi O’Connor to score. O’Connor wrapped up the victory with his second and Kerry’s third.
The Under-13s lost to a very strong Limerick Desmond side at Askeaton following their Day 1 home win over Cork.
Then the Under-13s will be at home to South Tipperary, who lost to Cork this weekend, with the Under-15s taking on the Under-15s of the same league.
SLATTERY UNDER 12 YEARS
The action started midweek when St Brendan’s Park won at Killorglin. Their goals came from Brooklyn Conway, Fionn Clancy, Shane Griffin, Ibkahaim Husam and Brendan Duggan.
Tralee Dynamos and Listowel Celtic played an eight-goal thriller with points split after a 4-4 draw. Calvin O’Sullivan (2), Cian Fitzgerald, Danny Lane scored for Dynamos with Shane Costello, Mason Sheehy and Thomas Keane responding for Listowel Celtic.
On Saturday, goals from Thomas Keane and Mason Sheehy gave Listowel Celtic a 2-1 home win over Inter Kenmare whose goal came from Tony Desmond.
Goals from Darragh Keane and Alan O’Meara appeared to have given Mastergeeha a 2-1 away win at Dynamos, but the home side equalized with the last kick of the game.
A goal in either half from Pa McCarthy and Kieran Kelly gave Killarney Celtic a 2-0 away win over LB Rovers who also missed a penalty.
Division 1 North
Goals from Dáithí Brown, Dylan Brown, Seán Kennelly (two) and Deniss Rastenis gave Listowel Celtic the three points away from Camp Juniors. In the same division, Tralee Dynamos won 3-0 over Ballyheigue. Fenit Samphires also won 3-0, beating Park B.
The Dingle Bay Rovers made the trip to North Kerry a victory by beating the LB Rovers thanks to goals from Jack Dorgan, Saoirse Brosnan, Fionn Dowd and Harry Flaherty O’Dowd.
Division 1 South
Ballyhar Dynamos made the trip to Woodlawn where Killarney Athletic B beat 4-0. Ballyhar hit two in each with Alex Finn (two), Ryan Quilter and Adam O’Meara on the mark.
MEK Galaxy won at home against Killorglin B with Eoin Casey (three), Jamie Murphy, Brendan Allman all scoring in the first half and Shane O’Neill in the second half.
On Friday night, Mastergeeha B defeated Killarney Celtic B 3-2 at Kilbrean Park. Patrick O’Donoghue (two) and Noah Clifford scored the home goals with Tristan Murphy and Ben O’Sullivan responding for Celtic B
Ballyhar and Mastergeeha played an exciting 3-3 draw at Murt Scott Park.
The home side got off to a great start with goals from Patrick O’Connor scoring twice to give his side a 2-0 lead. In the second half, the visitors pushed back Sennan Murphy.
Dáithí Allen then ran on a long ball and beat the keeper to give Ballyhar the lead 3-1. Murphy pulled out another in the final ten minutes before Callum O’Leary completed the comeback. Allen thought he won the game for Ballyhar, but his late effort hit the post.
Camp Juniors B defeated Castleisland B in the U-12 division 2. Evan Cronin and Daniel Riordan scored the goals for Castleisland.
UNDER 13 YEARS OF AGE
Two of the first three games came in midweek with wins recorded by LB Rovers A and Tralee Dynamos. LB Rovers defeated Listowel Celtic with goals from Odhran Barry (2), Brody Mulvihill, Billy Moriarty and Tadgh Long.
The Dynamos’ goals in their 2-1 against Fenit came from Calvin O’Sullivan and Danny Lane, with Michael Corridan responding for Fenit.
On Saturday, Killorglin claimed a relentless 4-3 victory at LB Rovers, where the teams were tied 2-2 at the break. For Killorglin, Jack Buckley scored twice with Sean Doherty and Callum Robertson scoring once each. Liam Lynch got two and Odhran Barry got one for LB Rovers.
A Marc Foley goal and an own goal were enough for the Intermediate Kenmare to win all three points by beating Castleisland 2-1.
Division 2 North
A big night out for Cillian Foley saw him score four goals for Fenit as they beat Ballyheigue 5-3. Eoghan Wiseman scored Fenit’s other goal with Conor Slattery, George Kane and Sam Keane scoring for Ballyheigue.
UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE
Killarney Athletic was the away winner beating Listowel Celtic thanks to goals from Liam O’Brien, Szymon Jasinski, JJ o’Donoghue, Jake Nash and Brian McCarthy.
The away victory was MEK Galaxy who beat Killorglin with goals from Jayden Fennell (2), Jack Hallissey and Cillian O’Donoghue. Michael Houlihan and Ciaran Birmingham responded for Killorglin.
The Inter Kenmare game against St Brendan’s Park was a real seesaw deal with the home side finally hanging on. Rossa McGearailt had a hat trick for Inter with Michael Jones getting the fourth and they also needed goalkeeper DJ Harrington to be in top form to secure the victory.
Brian Heaphy scored for Park to make it 2-1, then Ethan Ballard got one in the second half to make it 4-2 and when Heaphy got his second with nine minutes left the game was in progress, but Inter held on to win.
Cillian Slattery had an unforgettable day for Killarney Celtic in his away win at LB Rovers. He scored five goals for the winners with James Coffey (2), Pa O’Brien and Tomas Mackey also scoring. Cody Goggin and Charlie Ryan both scored two goals for LB Rovers.
Goals from Darragh Murphy, Jogo Brodie, Mark Vansteenkiste, Luke O’Connor, Allyn O’Shea and Micheal Enright gave Camp Juniors the away victory at Killorglin.
In the other match, Castleisland won 4-2 over St Brendan’s Park B at Christy Leahy Park. Harry Crowley, Darragh Cahill (two) and Shane O’Loughlin were the winner’s scorers.
There was a game on Sunday when Ballyhar Dynamos beat Killarney Athletic 5-4 with the teams tied at 2-2 at the break. Anthony Cremin had a big day at Murt Scott Park scoring 4 goals for the home side and John Henderson scoring the fifth. Liam Harmon and Cathal Sugrue have both scored twice for Athletic.
St Brendan’s Park C drew 3-3 with neighbors Tralee Dynamos B in Division 2 of World of Tiles U-14 with their goals from Brian Fealy, Seadhna O’Brien and an own own goal. Dynamos goals came from Jayden Moriarty, Jay O’Connor and Daniel McCarthy.
Michael Lenihan scored for Castleisland B but that wasn’t enough to keep them from losing 2-1 at home to Inter Kenmare B. Mastergeeha scored goals from Ruairi O’Donoghue (two), Craig Brosnan and Evan O’Sullivan in their home 4-2 at Ballheigue. For the North Kerry team, Shane O’Sullivan and Adam Lee were the scorers.
UNDER 15 YEARS
It was one of those two-half games with Killarney Athletic leading 4-0 before the break thanks to goals from David Walsh, Gleb Taranov, Ben Kelliher and Mathew Pfizer. Aidan McAuliffe and Thomas Myers (2) were the scorers for Mastergeeha.
LESS THAN 16
The Under-16 League’s first goal this season was the divisional clash where Ballyhar Dynamos and St Brendan’s Park D played a nine-goal thriller at Murt Scott Park. The teams were tied 3-3 at the break. Fionn Coleman and Robert Kelly both scored twice for Ballyhar.
