The weather supports Cards’ quest to start the AAA State Championship defense: The regular season of the Cardinal of Alexandria Golf for girls the team is postponed to next week at the earliest. Yesterday, the Cardinals were scheduled to open their season with a competition at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker. The event is postponed to Tuesday, April 12. If the weather cooperates, this could serve as Alexandria’s season opener. The Cardinals’ CLC competition in Cold Spring scheduled for this coming Monday is now rescheduled for Tuesday, April 26 at Rich Spring Golf Club.

Opening of outdoor athletics postponed to Saturday: Cardinal girls track and boys track the teams will host athletes from five other schools tomorrow (Saturday). The bad weather – with cold temperatures, wind and precipitation – moved this meeting from Thursday to Saturday. The meeting will begin at 12 p.m.

The Alexandria Tennis team will host the quadrangular on Saturday: Cardinal Boys tennis team will be back in action tomorrow with a quad at the Alexandria area high school tennis complex. The Crookston, Monticello and Osakis teams are all due to go, with the event set to start at 10 a.m. Update as of Friday noon: Due to expected cold temperatures in the early hours after sunrise, matches at the Alexandria Tennis Complex are now expected to be delayed by one hour, with an expected start at 11:00 a.m.
