(undated) — If you missed the KXRA Cardinal Sports Report broadcast on Wednesday, March 2, listen to the podcast here!

The cards are bouncing, celebrate Senior Night with a win: from Alexandria boys basketball players, coaches and fans greeted 10 athletes and a pair of student-managers from the Class of 2022 ahead of Tuesday night’s home game, when the Cardinals hosted the Moorhead Spuds. The team then came out and overcame an 11-point first-half deficit to overpower the Spuds, 59-49 at Alexandria Area High School. Second year Grayson Grove scored 20 in the win.

Post-match reaction: The Cardinal Sports Report includes some remarks made by senior Erik Hedstrom during the KXRA broadcast of Juettner Motors’ post-game show on Tuesday night. He had the pleasure of giving some props to the two student-managers who were honored during the senior evening: classmates Ben Borden and Taeren Peterson. On the court Tuesday, Hedstrom scored 17 points while grabbing nine rebounds. He also took four charges on the defensive side, resulting not only in turnovers from Moorhead, but also from the Alexandria faithful in attendance. After dropping nearly 30 points to Saint Cloud Tech on Monday night, the Cards extended their record to 19-5 overall after Tuesday’s victory.

CLC Men’s Basketball Title Race: Based on Brainerd’s two-point win at Saint Cloud Tech High School on Tuesday night, a few things became clear because of that result. The Warriors clinched at least a share of the Central Lakes Conference title. Brainerd is 13-2 with a championship game to play (at Alexandria Friday night). Brainerd’s win also eliminated Tech and Sartell from CLC title contention. Only Alexandria can match Brainerd’s Central Lakes Conference record at the end of the season. The Warriors are the only team that can win the league title. It happens with a Brainerd win on Friday night Where a loss to Alexandria at Fergus Falls on Saturday. The Cardinals can only tie Brainerd for the Central Lakes Conference title with wins Friday and Saturday.

Additional conversation about Alexandria Struggle, Swimming and diving boysand men’s hockey is included in the Cardinal Sports Report podcast. The boys’ national wrestling and swimming tournaments begin Thursday in the Twin Cities.
