Leeds Rhinos legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan has backed Hull KR to rock the boat again in 2022.

JJB has been named a new permanent member of Sky Sports’ pundit squad for the coming season, alongside former Rovers striker Jon Wilkin.

Jones-Buchanan is on the Rhinos coaching staff for the upcoming season, but when asked for his thoughts on the upcoming season, he backed Rovers to mix up with the big hitters again .

“It’s about peaking at the right time and playing well from August to October,” he told Sky Sports.

“Who knows, I’m really interested to see what Daryl Powell’s Warrington Wolves side look like this season, they’ve got a superstar in there.

“Hull KR were fantastic last year and they could upset the rugby basket at some point this year. They were really exciting and with Tony Smith and Danny McGuire applying their craft there they could upset a few people.”

Meanwhile, Wilkin, perhaps predictably, backed St Helens to claim an unprecedented fourth consecutive title.

“This is a media briefing ask Jon Wilkin how St Helens are going and ask all rugby league fans to contact him saying he is biased. But I think that ‘they’re too consistently good, I think they’ll win the league and win the Grand Final.”
