PwC announced that Robert Elstone has joined part-time as a senior advisor to the company’s sports affairs advisory team.

Elstone joins PwC after leaving Super League Rugby where, as Executive Chairman, he played a key role in securing the independence, restructuring and rebranding of the organization.

His time in charge has seen significant growth in television audiences and commercial revenues, and has attracted a substantial supply of private equity investment.

Prior to joining the Super League, Robert spent 13 years at Everton Football Club, the majority as general manager. Robert also held a management role at Sky Sports, handling the broadcaster’s business and media interests in four Premier League clubs, and “has considerable experience in advising sports organizations”.

At PwC, Robert will support the growth of sports practice and provide in-depth industry knowledge and experience. His 25 years of experience in the sports industry combined with PwC’s core capabilities “will enable the company’s sports business advisory team to create more value for its clients in the sports industry.”

Robert Elstone said: “I am delighted to join PwC at a time when its sporting activity is growing more and more. I look forward to helping the firm’s clients take advantage of the flow of emerging opportunities generated by this dynamic industry.

Clive Reeves, UK Strategy and Sports Director at PWC, said: “We are delighted that Robert is joining our sports affairs team. His vast knowledge and hands-on experience will add another dimension to our team and ensure that we are better equipped to solve our clients’ main challenges.
