Robin Roberts won his first Street Outlaws No Prep Kings event. He won the event at the Darlington Dragway in Hartsville, SC on Saturday night.
Roberts defeated Kye Kelley in the final round. The Kansas-based pilot took home the $ 40,000 scholarship for winning the event.
It was a very close race between the two competitors. This will air later this year on the Discovery Channel when the new Street Outlaws No Prep Kings season airs starting in October.
Roberts is the second first-time driver to win this season. Cody Baker defeated Eric Kvilhaug to claim his first victory.
Baker and Kvilhaug were scheduled to complete their final round at the New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. However, due to inclement weather, it had to be pushed back.
After the Epping-based race, Baker beat Kvilhaug on Friday night at the Maple Grove Raceway event in Mohnton, PA. Baker became the first screwdriver car to win in the series.
Roberts is the second Team X contender to win. Justin Swanstrom won the event at South Georgia Motorsports Park in June.
Team X is the first team to have multiple drivers to win a race this season. Ryan Martin has three wins, while Baker, Swanstrom and Roberts each have one.
