To celebrate Lagos 50 years, the Indian community in Nigeria gathered at Onikan Stadium, Lagos, where athletes and sports enthusiasts took part in various sporting activities.
The event, hosted by Rajasthani Samaj (RS), showcased the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL), where athletes from different categories participated in different types of sporting activities including cricket, soccer and other sports .
Speaking to reporters, RS Secretary General Anuj Murarka said PLR is all about synergy, sport and bringing people together to enjoy a common spirit of joy and happiness.
“This is our first event to celebrate 50 years of Lagos. The event started and ended with great enthusiasm and all participants want to make it an annual event. We thank the participants, the ExCom, the volunteers and our sponsors for making this great event.
“We are also grateful to the Lagos State Government, the management and staff of the Onikan Stadium, the media and in particular the Nigerian Police Force, the Onikan Division and the Rapid Response Team (RRS ) who supported the event with their presence. We also thank our main guest, Mr. Jagdeep Kapoor, Head of Chancellery – High Commission of India and his wife for gracing the occasion with their presence, ”added Anuj.
