Several teams should be interested in his services.

Texans Under-66 head coach David Culley is on a youth movement. Culley and the new front office are starting to see who will be in the team’s future for next season and beyond.

With the release of Mercilus, Jacob Martin is expected to be the team’s starter for their next game against the Arizona Cardinals. Martin was acquired in a September 2019 trade with the Seattle Seahawks.

The team will have a cap of $ 8 million reached this year with the departure. Houston will be responsible for a $ 7 million cap next season related to the move.

The Texans are saving just over $ 600,000 by releasing Mercilus on their 2021 cap.
