The following announcement is from the First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield:

FAIRFIELD, CT — According to, 500,000 young athletes participate in more than 2,800 Upward Sports experiences across the United States today. They provide the kind of competitive advantage that can help prepare for the future and equip children against challenges later in life.

Upward Sports partners with churches across the United States to enrich the physical, emotional, social and spiritual growth of children. Children deserve more than physical activity, exercises and competition. They need a place to develop humility, integrity, respect, and a chance to explore their faith.

That’s why Upward Sports and First Presbyterian Church (“FPC”) are working together to bring this exciting opportunity to young people in the Fairfield County area.

Unlike other after-school sports programs, this one has 4 key benefits you won’t find anywhere else! It is non-competitive, low investment risk, focuses on character development and emotional health, and helps children discover how to integrate faith into their daily lives.

Fairfield First Presbyterian Church has the only Upward Sports experience in Fairfield County.

Registration for this exciting new fall sports program closes Friday August 5th. The seats are limited. Parents are encouraged to register their children early for flag football and joy league. The season officially starts on Wednesday, September 14.

Kids like it because it’s fun! Having a weekly routine can give them a touchstone and something to look forward to too.

It’s a parent’s dream! Non-competitive means the kids are safe, it’s local and no one is benched. Predictable schedules and a unique location “relieve” for busy parents. As a healthy, short and affordable 7 week experience; this is a great first step for young children to try.

What children and parents across the United States are saying:
“At halftime, they teach you about God,” Natalie says. She learned to think of others before herself. And that makes her a better player in school too.

“We love the program,” said Lisa Deering, who coaches a team with her husband Todd. “We believe in it, and that’s why we train.”

The denominational nature of the program does not exclude non-Christians. Chad Joseph, “We are not
affiliated with any religion.” Chad has seen (his son) Jack’s confidence grow and loves seeing him
laugh and get along with kids he might never have met at school. “He’s a good influence.”
