The Ellerbe boys’ and girls’ soccer teams, as well as the Rockingham baseball team, scored victories on Tuesday.

Ellerbe football sweeps Anson away

Defending their home turf, the Ellerbe Middle School boys and girls football teams won a sweep against visiting Anson Middle School.

The Wildcats earned their first win of the season, shutting out the Bearcats 6-0. Ellerbe scored two goals in the first half, thanks to Adrian Zamora and Elen Fonseca.

To open the second half, Zamora scored his second goal of the game. Cole Lambeth, Izzy De Jesus and German Fonseca completed the last three goals for the Wildcats.

With the win, the Ellerbe boys improved to 1-2 this season.

The Lady Wildcats used a pair of goals from Mariana Gonzalez Aguilar to defeat the Lady Bearcats 2-1.

Ellerbe’s women’s team is now 2-1 and both teams will play at Cordova Middle School on Wednesday.

Rockets bounce back with win over Spring Hill

The Rockingham Middle School baseball team used a no-hitter from Caden Nolan to defeat Spring Hill 11-1 in five innings on Tuesday.

Nolan added 10 strikeouts to his line, and went 2-for-3 at home plate and recorded an RBI.

Andrae Streeter also assisted at home plate, who went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs.

Preston Fann had an RBI and a hit, Cameron Quick had a run on a sacrifice fly, and Carter Visingard finished the day 1-for-2.

The Rockets (3-2) return to action with another game on Monday.
