BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) – After a win over the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills are set to face the Jacksonville Jaguars today.
Buffalo had an excellent record against rookie quarterbacks under Sean McDermott. Can this continue against the first overall pick?
Buffalo is the best team in every phase. The Bills have a franchise quarterback, a defense that forced 18 turnovers [second most in the NFL] and even a kicker who was named the October Special Teams Player of the Month.
That said, the Bills cannot change their identity. Last week against the Dolphins, they played an unusual first half littered with errors, especially in attack. Jacksonville may not have the Bills’ talent, but they have game changers in defense that could cause problems.
Jags linebacker Josh Allen, I know it’s weird, has 4.5 sacks and 31 total tackles this season. He’s a dynamic passer that the Bills hope not to reach their Josh Allen. Anyway, I just hope they pose for a photo of Josh Allen before the game.
On offense, despite his slow start, I still think Trevor Lawrence will be a very good NFL quarterback. He’s flashed several times a game with big plays and there’s a good chance he’ll do it again against the Bills. James Robinson, the Jags’ bell cow to the running back, might not play, which would be a big blow to the Jags. He’s a very good player and the Bills’ run defense has been good this year, but not great.
The Jags should have a bright future with Lawrence at the helm, but they still have a long way to go. The Buffalo roster is a cut above Jacksonville and is expected to return to western New York with another win.

Season summary: 5-2
The Buffalo Bills looked slow to start last week’s game, and they were able to afford that against a struggling Dolphins team that continually struggle to capitalize. This week the Bills face another opponent who has had their fair share of struggles, but it’s a week that I personally think they can’t afford to start slow – especially when it’s against a team, you. are so much better than in so many areas of the game.
The biggest issue, in my opinion, for this Bills offense will be protecting their own Josh Allen’s line from the other Josh Allen they will face. Allen of the Jags is definitely the bright spot in their defense, after a two-sack performance and seems to be really improving week by week. The only good news in this? Allen of the Bills is doing pretty well, but I hope he doesn’t have too much of the other Allen in his face.
Coach Sean McDermott is 5-1 against the rookie QBs, his only loss to Sam Darnold in 2018. In those six games, the rookie QB threw for a total of four touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Trevor Lawrence started his rookie campaign with a lot of mistakes, but since then he’s improved a lot on the stats sheet. Defending the Bills is a whole different ball game, though, and I can see the best unit in the league give it a really long Sunday.
This Manningcast curse? I’d be shocked if he’s still alive this week. The Bills should win this game by a few points and I think they will.

The next few weeks should frankly be as easy as they are for the Buffalo Bills. I think we all expected the Miami Dolphins to be better than them. Maybe not good, but better. The next two opponents, the Jaguars and Jets, landed the top two draft picks in April and appear to be playing the top of a selection once again this season.
Jacksonville was better used, however, with Trevor Lawrence. While the hit / intercept ratio was not there for the Clemson product, distance and usage To been halfway through his rookie season. And that’s not even the best part (take this with a grain of salt) of the Jaguars offense. As a team, Jacksonville averages more than five yards per carry.
The Bills have been pretty strong against the run all year. Leslie Frazier’s unit allows less than 100 yards per game on the ground. If Lawrence doesn’t have that consistency behind him to put the Jaguars in 2nd and 3rd and manageable, he’s another inexperienced quarterback the Bills should be able to terrorize early and often.
Final score: Bills 31, Jaguars 14
Season record: 4-3
