The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, organized a five-day closing ceremony ‘Talent Hunt Youth Sports League Wrestling 2022’ and ‘All Pakistan HEC Inter-varsity Baseball Championship’ here in the City Campus Sports Complex.

Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan presided over the award ceremony while Vice Chancellor of UVAS Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad Vice Chancellor of Sargodha University Prof. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Chief Executive of Higher Sports Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad Javed Ali Memon, Chairman of Sports Council (UVAS), Prof. Rana Muhammad Ayyub, UVAS Director of Sports Rana Amjad Iqbal, Deputy -Chief President of Pakistan Wrestling Federation Arshad Sattar, Director of Sports of Sargodha University Ahmad Khan Haral and more than 70 players from five regions of Punjab also attended.

Speaking to the audience, Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan said that wrestling has exclusive significance in the sports activities of Punjab and the government is providing facilities for the promotion of sports in the country. He mentioned that the development of education was the government’s top priority. He praised HEC for providing opportunities for young people through Talent Hunt’s Youth Sports League wrestling. He also acknowledged the role of the UVAS Sports Council in organizing Sports League wrestling appropriately. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr Nasim Ahmad said: “I am very happy to see the enthusiasm of the young players in this Talent Hunt Youth Sports League and hope that in the future, these players will show their performances in international competition and light up the name of Pakistan.”

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar and Javed Ali Memon also spoke.

In the wrestling competitions, Gujranwala team won the first position, Rawalpindi team got the second and Lahore team took the third position. In baseball competitions, University of Central Punjab won the first position while Islamia University of Bahawalpur got the second position. Later, Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan and other dignitaries handed out trophies to the winners of the wrestling and baseball teams and congratulated them.—APP
